Very many people experience bad customer service and it seems like that is all you will ever get. This does not mean that a company is going to get away by not improving their service to customers. There is a lot that needs to be done to improve the experience of a customer. The rules in regard to handling of clients are not hard to follow but it can be quite hard to maintain your cool when faced with irritating customers.
When handling customers, you need to smile. Even if they don’t see you, they need to be able to pick up the expression in your voice. You should also greet customers appropriately. It is essential for you to be visible and proactive. You need to ask people if you can assist them. You can also read their body language to know if they need assistance.
Never avoid customers. Even if they seem to complain any minute, just deal with it. It is also not wise to judge a book by its cover. Treat all customers equally regardless of their appearance. In the event a customer’s credit card has been declined, be discrete about it by not shouting out loudly that their card has not funded.
It is also not a good idea to eat or drink around the shop floor. You should not stand with your workmates gossiping instead of serving customers. All personal conversations and calls should only be made during free time. You should not talk about customers on the shop. People are going to wonder what you say about them and it is very unprofessional.
As you will be putting products in the bag, make sure that there are not defects. Ensure that everything that has been purchased is in the bag. Tell the customer bye with a smile.
